Kate Gover wants to relax your mind and calm your senses with her exotic range of gourmet, loose leaf tea. After working in the restaurant sector, Kate says it was in 2008 that she realised "that tea could be extraordinarily good”, and started her business, named after a tea clipper that her great-great-grandfather had sailed.
Despite starting in a difficult climate, Kate's teas have made it into a number of stockists, including Made by Bob, Cirencester, and Harvey Nichols, nationwide. Lahloo Tea is also used by a number of luxury spas, restaurants and café-bars in the South West, Monmouthshire and Cotswolds.
Kate says that as a young small business, the biggest challenge for is wanting to grow and raise awareness of her brand whilst keeping costs down. "We made an expensive mistake early on with a large PR agency promising the world but have actually found that our approach has gained more exposure that they managed," she says. We have to be clever and I have had to find as much information as I can about how I can market and PR Lahloo in the most affordable but effective way.
"We've been creative with our efforts so far and have gained fantastic local exposure but being able to understand the world of PR a little more would be invaluable at this stage," she adds. "We need to now get our message further afield and this is the area I know least about."
